Each oyster optimally mineralises its shell to provide very high levels of trace elements and minerals. Oyster shell powder is an excellent source of marine calcium. It contains almost 35%.

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. The human body contains over a kilogram of it, most of which is found in bones and teeth. So it's important to make sure you get enough. Around 99% of total body calcium is found in the bones and teeth, where it plays a structural role.

At any age, it is therefore essential to ensure that calcium requirements are permanently and adequately covered. This is particularly true at the time when the maximum bone capital imposed by genetic inheritance is being built up (during childhood and adolescence), in women from the age of 50 and at the time when the inevitable physiological ageing of the bone occurs. Daily use requirements for an adult are in the region of 800 to 1200 mg per day.

The main food sources of calcium in European countries differ, although dairy products are generally the most important food group. Other calcium-rich food sources include dark green vegetables, pulses, nuts and calcium-enriched foods.
