Milk Thistle grows at altitudes of up to 700 m in dry, rocky wastelands throughout western and southern Europe, as well as in North Africa.
Milk Thistle is rich in flavonoids called silymarin - made up of three isomeric flavonolignams: silydianin, silycristin and silybin, bitter principles, thyramine and histamine.
These active substances, located in the seed, have a protective and regenerative action on liver cell membranes, blocking access to a range of substances that clog the liver.
