Lemon verbena leaves are widely used to flavour drinks, such as teas, herbal teas and lemonades. During the Middle Ages in Europe, lemon verbena was often grown in monastery gardens for its medicinal properties. It was used to treat a variety of ailments, including digestive disorders.
Native to South America, more specifically to the regions of Chile, Argentina and Peru, Lemon verbena is planted in countries with a sunny, warm climate which allows it to grow well. Puressentiel chose Morocco for its production because its climate guarantees optimum quality. Also known as citronella verbena or Lippia citriodora in Latin, organic cultivation of this plant is complex due to pests: aphids, spiders, etc.
Lemon Verbena Essential Oil is pale yellow to yellow in colour and has a sweet, fresh, lemony scent, characteristic of citrals. It should not be confused with Common Verbena(Verbena officinalis), which is virtually odourless.
It is obtained by steam distillation of fresh leaves for 2 to 5 hours. The leaves and stems are separated by hand just after harvesting to obtain quality whole leaves. They are then sent to the distillery to guarantee maximum quality and fragrance.

How to use it
To be taken on a Puressentiel neutral tablet (or 1 teaspoon of honey, olive oil or 1/4 sugar). Maximum daily doses : 12 years and over: 1 drop; adults: 2 drops. Do not use undiluted or mix with water. For further advice on use, ask your pharmacist. Equivalence : 1ml = 25 drops.
